I was born on January 16th, 1996 in Kingsville, TX. My family moved to Schulenburg, TX when I was only a year old. I spent the next 17 years of my life in the small German/Czech town playing every sport they would let me. I aspired to play collegiate sports, and that dream became a reality when I signed my Letter of Intent to join the Sam Houston State University track and field team. After competing as a true freshman for the SHSU track team throwing shotput and hammer my story took a huge turn. During one of our Fall semester off-season workouts of my sophomore season I herniated the disc at L4-L5 while squatting around 500lbs. I had lost hope of continuing my collegiate athletic career after months of physical therapy, two epidural steroid injections, and a scheduled discectomy at 20 years old. However, one evening while scouring YouTube for solutions, I came across Your Houston Chiropractor Dr. Greg Johnson.
I spent the entire night watching and studying his videos. The next morning, I got in touch with my parents and told them I had to go see this Chiropractic YouTube Star in Houston. After only three treatments with Dr. Johnson, I knew that the Good Lord brought me into this office for a much bigger purpose than to continue my collegiate athletic career. I went on to forgo my track scholarship and walk-on to the SHSU football team where I finished my last three seasons of eligibility as the starting center for my final two seasons, earning all-conference recognition my Senior year, and starting in 25 consecutive games for the Bearkats. The friendship that grew between Dr. Johnson and I over my athletic career lead to a full-time internship in his office where I have continued to learn and soak up as much knowledge as possible. I will be attending Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa beginning July of 2019. Once I complete my Doctor of Chiropractic program and pass my Licensing Exams I will return to Houston, Texas and continue to treat and help people the same way Dr. Johnson did for me as a young student-athlete. I’m excited for the opportunity God has blessed me with and look forward to the growth and experiences to come. I hope you will join me on this journey as I document the entire experience on my own YouTube Channel ‘Your Future Houston Chiropractor Tristan Wendt’.
Thank you and God Bless!
